Case Study: Preferred Capital
The Assignment:
Create all branding for this business equipment financing company. Design, write and coordinate printing production for a “credit card” direct mail campaign. Design and produce myriad additional collateral print pieces. Design/write all employee advertising and recruitment material; posters, booklets and imprinted giveaways for recruitment events.
The Result:
Revenue growth of 300% per year. The direct mail campaign initially generated nearly a 3% response rate (unheard of in the direct mail industry.) Mailings grew to 1 million pieces per quarter. Preferred Capital went from a 6-person company in the back of a Tahoe building to a national presence, with around 300 employees in 5 locations around the country.
The Client Said:
Gil came on board with us in the beginning when we had 8 desks in a small office. He and I wrote the direct mail piece that ended up tripling our business for 3 years running. Additionally he came up with the bill-stuffers, a vendor rebate program, employee recruitment materials... everything we needed to keep the place humming.

We’d run Gil’s ads and the phones would start ringing. He created a proposition that our target-- recent college grads-- couldn’t resist. Our competitors offered dental plans... we offered ski passes and a feeling of freedom. We ended up with 5 locations around the country and 250 new hires in 3 years.
